Re: Forward Facing Sonar
Garry, You have the same thoughts? I do not. I do agree that if the musky story is true(how could anyone be so stupid), those guys were the idiots this guy said they were. I use my livescope to learn more than I can without it. That's it!!!!!!!!! And what has been learned is off the charts to say the least. Just today, I caught two 2 1/2, a 3 and a 4lb bass off of a spot on my lake that I have never caught a bass over a pound and a half. Why? Because I wasn't fishing deep enough. This is a very flat 90 degree inside turn. Have never even caught a decent northern on this spot when trolling either. Until today, I would have put this spot on the list of the most worthless spots in my lake.
I still wonder how two fishermen can catch and kill 4 musky. Sounds a little fishy to me. Livescope is still fishing. Trust me, more than 75% of the time, the fish you see, you cannot catch. The key is being there when they become active. Buck got that correct also. They may move once or twice a day. The whole reason I am still learning every day is I have a very good grip on all the guidelines he gave us. Been there and done all of it, so without those guidelines, it would be very difficult to get some of the answers I have gotten and still left with those that cannot be answered. FFS will not be banned. There is too much money to be made and their foot is in the door too far. As far as fish populations are concerned, I wouldn't worry about that either. More fish are damaged or killed by weed sprayers than anything and a permit makes that legal too. Now that's what the mass should be hollering about, not FFS. Every bit of new technology , the spoonplugger who has done his homework has benefited the most. Forgot this one. Do you know that FFS is just like any other sonar. If the fish are belly to the bottom, no sonar including FFS will show them, however if you know what to look for, you can get a clue they are there without actually seeing much. That's how I found those fish today. After watching 15 adult bass follow a crankbait and not eat it, they will all go to the bottom and they look like spiders crawling around the bottom. This is something you need to look for. You know on your standard sonar when the fish are barely showing up like a little bump on the bottom and that's all you see. Well with FFS you can barely see the fish moving (live). Same thing only a different view. Some say they dont pay any attention to the fish they might see on their sonar. OK...... I do. Take Care. John

John, I of the same opinion as yours. I was surprised by the negative comments to the original post in the link.

I’ll call bs on the 3 dead muskies. Everyone in the world now has a camera in their pocket. There would definitely be pictures if there were 3 dead muskies.
FFS is not going anywhere. There’s a lot of jealousy when it comes to the topic.
