Idaho smallmouth

Post by site admin »

I recall Buck talking about Idaho. He said you can catch 100+ smallies a day and not see anyone. I believe it was the snake river.
Josh Jones pulled up a 9lb and a few 8's. Another place I have to add to the bucket list..
Anyone know if Josh was at the snake river reservoirs?

Dworshak has been the primary location for the majority of the big smallie catches as best I can tell, but I’m sure they’ve checked out others while in the area.

WOW, what a deep highlander. 30 miles upstream from the dam, 200ft in the headwaters! (470ft at the dam).
Still like to make it there soon. Buck really talked highly of fishing in that part of the country.

Hit Fort Peck Montana on the way.

He was at Dworshak. It is a great lake, but also a typical Highlander. I fished it this past summer and caught LOTS of smaller fish, but nothing in the 6 to 9 pound range. Josh is the FFS Man! It was at 110% full when i was there, and it was -40 feet when he was! It makes a BIG difference when it is lower. Heading to Canada in a few days, so looking forward to fishing with my Buddy Jerry. My problem there is I cant stay away from the big Smallies!.

I second Hal’s comments. I look forward every year to hearing about the hurt placed on the Muskies and Smallies.
