Views from the Pond 1

Post by PhissingPhil »

We have a 1/3 acre pond providing for views of what's going on in there. Our 30th year here to see what's up in there. Fish present are mainly Bass, Bluegill, Red Ear Sunfish along with two roughly 30-inch Triploid White Amur. We used to have two 2 large Catfish, but they died long ago. The ice melted off a week or so ago. For a couple of days no fish were seen in the shallows. Then at first just a few small Bluegills / Sunfish. Then a few days ago the shallows everywhere were all fish except the Amur. Today the Bluegills began following me around the pond. They KNOW that we feed them and aren't afraid to beg! One thing that is obvious when having a pond is that, The fish are in the shallows, the deep water, or somewhere in between. It's pretty obvious if you open your eyes and look in the water on a regular basis. Will relate other views from the pond going forward. It's just a small pond, not a lake, but these fish don't know the difference so they just act like fish.
